Adrian Veștea's nomination for the position of prime minister has caused tensions in the relationship between Nicușor Dan and the PNL leadership, as well as discussions about a possible split of the party.
Dominic Fritz, the president of USR, emphasized that the risk of division exists, considering the critical reactions from within PNL, especially from Ilie Bolojan, who described Veștea's appointment as a 'hostile act.' Fritz highlighted that PNL is in a delicate situation, torn between those who prefer continuity alongside PSD and those who want real change. He reminded that PNL and PSD have collaborated in recent campaigns, which suggests that there are forces within PNL that prefer the stability of a convenient alliance.
"I hope that within PNL, there is still a strong enough faction that desires change for Romania, that does not want to be the keychain of PSD," said Fritz.
