19 lawmakers changed their group in just five months, while the PNL attracted the most elected officials

In the five months since the no-confidence motion was finalized, 19 lawmakers have changed parliamentary groups, according to Digi24 reporting. This number is in addition to the 16 elected officials who made such transfers between the 2024 parliamentary elections and the motion.
The PNL attracted the most lawmakers—eight in total—from AUR, SOS Romania and POT. Six of them joined the party starting in the spring of this year, a period when the PSD was already discussing a possible withdrawal from government. Among them is Adrian Peiu, a former SOS Romania senator, who was elected interim leader of the PNL Ialomița organization in June.
The PSD ranks second in the transfer standings, with six lawmakers attracted from POT and SOS Romania. Most arrived shortly after the 2024 parliamentary elections.
SOS Romania fragmented into several groups. PACE, which is close to the PSD, and United for Romania, whose informal leader is Victor Ponta, attracted lawmakers from the party. Other elected officials joined AUR or the unaffiliated group, while more than half of the changes took place since April.
Andrei Csillag and Gheorghe Petru Pîclâșan each changed parliamentary groups five times. Jianu Iosif and Moiseev Alexandrin each passed through four groups after leaving SOS Romania.「slug」:
