The National Office for Gambling (ONJN) has sanctioned the operator TG Malta Limited, the owner of the platform totogaming.ro, for conducting a non-compliant advertising campaign. The sanction was imposed after a control that targeted advertising materials broadcasted through street panels, YouTube, and Instagram. The campaign used the image of a doctor, promoting gambling as part of the daily routine, with messages such as "Easy to use between appointments."
ONJN found that these messages normalize participation in gambling, suggesting that breaks in the professional schedule are suitable moments to play. The use of the doctor's image was considered problematic, as it conveys a sense of acceptability and lack of risk. The sanction of 20,000 lei was accompanied by a proposal to suspend the license, which will be analyzed by the Supervisory Committee.
Additionally, ONJN has notified the National Audiovisual Council regarding the audiovisual component of the campaign. The president of ONJN, Vlad-Cristian Soare, emphasized the importance of evaluating advertising based on its impact on consumers.
