Romania will soon implement the first national screening strategy, which will include not only cancer screening but also screening for chronic diseases such as cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. This initiative will target both insured and uninsured patients. The European Commission and OECD report underlines that Romania ranks last in the EU for prevention and screening, with low coverage for mammograms and cervical cancer screening.
