The Romanian government has appointed Lucian Romașcanu as representative to the EU Court of Auditors, subject to approval by the Council of the European Union.

<p>Lucian Romașcanu, former senator and Minister of Culture, has been nominated by the Romanian Government for a mandate at the Court of Auditors of the European Union, succeeding Viorel Ștefan. The nomination was made after consultation with the Romanian Court of Auditors and was heard by the Budgetary Control Committee of the European Parliament, where it received 22 votes in favor. The final decision rests with the Council of the European Union, which will adopt the list of members of the Court. This institution ensures the financial control of EU funds, promoting transparency and efficient spending.
