The President of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, expressed concerns on Saturday about a possible military intervention by the United States in Venezuela, emphasizing that such an action would have serious consequences for the Venezuelan population. Lula stated that a military intervention would represent a humanitarian catastrophe, considering the increasing tensions between Washington and Caracas. In the context of American President Donald Trump's imposition of a blockade on sanctioned oil tankers from Venezuela, Lula, along with the President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, called for calm and caution. At the Mercosur summit, Lula characterized the situation as a dangerous precedent, recalling the military presence of an external power in South America, similar to past events.
