Adrian Streinu-Cercel, Chairman of the Senate Health Committee, has announced that under the new legislative framework, vaccination will become an obligation for family doctors. This measure comes in response to the drop in vaccination rates observed both in Romania and internationally. Streinu-Cercel underlined the importance of educating parents about the consequences of non-compliance with vaccination, including possible hospitalization costs. The manager of the National Institute of Infectious Diseases, Adrian Marinescu, also said that doctors cannot take an anti-vaccination stance, emphasizing their professional responsibility.
