The German Continental Group, the largest employer in the Romanian automotive industry, will cut about 870 jobs following a restructuring of its ContiTech and Automotive divisions. Most affected are the units in Timisoara, where 640 jobs will be cut. The company justifies the measures as necessary to adapt to changes in the industry, such as the transition to electromobility and digitalization. Continental is offering assistance to redundant employees to help them find new jobs.
