Jack Conte, the CEO of Patreon, expressed major concerns about the impact of artificial intelligence on the creator economy. In an interview, he emphasized that independent creators are left out in the face of large technology companies that license content from traditional media, without providing adequate compensation to individual creators.
Conte advocated for regulations to protect creators' rights, considering that current copyright legislation is still under evaluation. Although he is not against AI, he emphasizes that its use should not lead to a "race to the bottom" for content creators. Conte suggests a model similar to YouTube's Content ID system, which allows creators to protect their works and be compensated for their use.
