Elon Musk's company, SpaceX, has submitted a request to launch one million satellites into Earth's orbit, aiming to create "orbital data centers" to meet the growing demand for computing power for artificial intelligence. Musk claims that these orbital centers are more energy-efficient than terrestrial ones, which require large resources for cooling.

The existing Starlink network, with nearly 10,000 satellites, has been criticized for the congestion it creates in space. The new network could serve billions of global users and could contribute to the development of a Kardashev II civilization. Although Musk states that the satellites will be placed at great distances to avoid collisions, experts warn about the risks of congestion and space debris. Additionally, astronomers have complained that Starlink satellites interfere with their observations.
