NASA has announced that it will advance the Artemis 3 mission, initially scheduled for September 2028, to the middle of 2027, but without a lunar landing. This will include a docking test in Earth orbit between the Orion capsule and the lunar landing modules, in the context where SpaceX and Blue Origin are developing the necessary vehicles. The Artemis 2 mission, which will send the Orion capsule with four astronauts around the Moon, will not undergo changes, being a crucial step in NASA's program. Jared Isaacman emphasized that the restructuring of the program is not related to the delays of the Artemis 2 mission, but reflects a more dynamic approach, similar to the philosophy of the Apollo program. Additionally, Artemis 3 will test the lunar suits during an extravehicular activity, which have also encountered delays.
