Crisis meetings were convened at the IMF, where finance ministers, central bank governors, and representatives of the financial sector discussed the artificial intelligence model Claude Mythos, developed by Anthropic. It has identified significant vulnerabilities in all major operating systems and browsers, raising serious concerns about cybersecurity. Canadian Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne emphasized the seriousness of the situation, comparing it to a global security crisis. Barclays CEO CS Venkatakrishnan added that it is essential to understand and quickly remediate the exposed vulnerabilities. Although Anthropic announced that the model has already identified multiple weaknesses, governments and banks will have early access to protect their systems. Bank of England Governor Andrew Bailey highlighted the risks of cybercrime associated with this AI development, while the U.S. Treasury encouraged banks to test their systems before the public launch of the Mythos model. Industry sources suggest that another American AI company may launch a similar model, but without adequate protective measures.
