Recently, the Chang'e 6 mission brought back to Earth 1,935.3 grams of lunar soil samples, providing evidence of a magma ocean that once existed on the Moon. Studies by the Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences have shown similarities and differences between these samples and those collected by the Apollo missions. The impact that created the South Pole-Aitken basin altered the Moon's chemical composition, and future analysis could provide new insights into its evolution.
