The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, stated that Ukrainian drones could strike the Victory Day parade on May 9, a symbolic event for Russia. Speaking in Yerevan, Zelensky emphasized that Russia can no longer showcase military power, considering that no military equipment will be presented at the parade.
He asserted that this summer could be decisive for the course of the war, stressing that Putin must decide between escalating the conflict or diplomacy. Zelensky called for maintaining pressure on Russia through sanctions, in the context of drone attacks on Russian infrastructure.
He also discussed a possible temporary ceasefire around Victory Day, questioning whether this would be only to ensure the security of the parade. The May 9 parade will be scaled down, without tanks or artillery, and Russian authorities are preparing communication restrictions in Moscow. Foreign leaders, including Lukashenko and Fico, are expected at the event.
