The Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Russia is targeting the Ukrainian nuclear system in an attempt to paralyze the country's energy network, emphasizing the Kremlin's lack of willingness to respect peace agreements. Zelensky mentioned that Russian attacks on the energy sector, especially during winter, hinder international efforts to end the war. In this context, he informed about the discussions held by the Ukrainian delegation in the United States, which focus on security and economic recovery proposals. Recent attacks in the Kharkiv region have resulted in loss of life and damaged critical infrastructure, affecting power supply. The Ministry of Energy reported that Russia struck energy infrastructure in the Kyiv and Odesa regions, leaving over 20 localities without electricity. In the face of these challenges, Ukraine intends to increase electricity imports and acquire additional equipment, with the help of Lithuania, which has significantly contributed to Ukraine's energy support.
