Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, announced that he wishes to order 25 Patriot air defense systems from the United States, in the context of Russian airstrikes that severely affect the country's energy infrastructure. Although he acknowledges that these systems are expensive and their production can take years, Zelensky has requested European countries to temporarily lend Patriot systems so as not to delay Ukraine's defense.

Germany has already provided Ukraine with more Patriot systems than any other nation, contributing to strengthening air defense. However, Ukraine is facing a serious threat from Russian attacks on the energy grid, which have led to power outages in most regions. The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine has urged citizens to limit electricity consumption, while fighting on the battlefield continues. Zelensky emphasized Ukraine's vulnerability to airstrikes, highlighting the urgent need to enhance defense capabilities.
