Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that he is willing to initiate changes to the mobilization law, so that parliament members who lose their mandate can enlist in the army. This statement was made in the context of the failed votes in the Verkhovna Rada, which are essential for obtaining financial support from the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Zelensky emphasized that, during martial law, parliamentarians must fulfill their duty either in the legislature or on the front.

He criticized the opposition for the lack of unity in voting on important projects and stressed that a coalition of national unity should focus on the necessary laws for the defense and financing of Ukraine. Zelensky also mentioned that defense issues should not be a subject of prolonged debate, especially in the context of the current crisis. Following the failure to adopt a crucial bill, the government will need to propose a new document to meet commitments to the IMF.
