The former CIA director, David Petraeus, stated that Vladimir Putin's armed forces have lost the advantage on the front line in the war in Ukraine. This statement comes in the context of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky making a new offer to Russia for a temporary ceasefire, aimed at halting attacks on energy infrastructure during Orthodox Easter. A similar proposal was rejected by Russia last weekend.

Petraeus emphasized that, although Russia has a superior manpower and a stronger arsenal, Ukrainian forces are managing to stop the Russian advance. Meanwhile, Russia has reported Ukrainian attacks on oil infrastructure, and Zelensky reiterated that he is willing to respect a ceasefire if Russia ceases its attacks on Ukraine. Moscow reacted coldly to the ceasefire proposal, preferring a global peace agreement. Zelensky mentioned that, despite his repeated calls for a ceasefire, Russia seems unwilling to accept such a proposal.
