Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, stated that he is prepared to attend the meeting between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, scheduled in Budapest, if he receives an invitation. This meeting aims to find a solution for the conflict in Ukraine. Zelensky recently returned from a visit to Washington, where he failed to convince the U.S. to deliver Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine. He emphasized that, although he is open to a trilateral meeting, Budapest is not the ideal place for discussions, considering the position of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who is more conciliatory towards Russia.
Zelensky reiterated that the conditions for peace remain unchanged, including the withdrawal of Russian forces from Donbas. He also requested 25 additional PATRIOT air defense systems to counter Russian attacks, emphasizing that the funds for these purchases could come from frozen Russian assets.
