The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, announced on Tuesday the completion of repairs to the Druzhba oil pipeline, which supplies Russian oil to Hungary and Slovakia, but conditioned its reopening on the unlocking of the European loan of 90 billion euros, blocked by former Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
The pipeline was damaged by a Russian attack, and the repairs took longer due to accusations of delay from Hungary and Slovakia.
Orban blocked both the loan and a new package of sanctions against Russia, following his refusal to support Ukraine. After Orban lost the elections, Zelensky promised that he would restore the pipeline by the end of the month, while also calling for the advancement of negotiations for Ukraine's EU membership and the approval of sanctions against Russia.
