The court in Mito, Japan, sentenced Keiko Mori, a 76-year-old woman, to one year of suspended prison sentence for three years for hiding the body of her daughter, Makiko, for approximately 20 years.

Makiko, who was 29 years old at the time of her death, was killed by her husband, and Mori abandoned the body in a closet, later moving it to a freezer. Judge Shizuka Asakura emphasized that Mori's daughter had behavioral problems and committed acts of domestic violence. The woman was arrested in September after she admitted to keeping her daughter's body in the freezer, presenting herself to the police to report the situation.
