A woman was arrested by the Spanish police while she was preparing to board a plane after leaving an unpaid hotel bill of 2,000 pounds.
She had spent 11 days in a tourist complex in San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Gran Canaria, with her family. After the hotel staff attempted to collect the amount at the end of the stay, the transaction was declined, and the guests did not respond to contact attempts. The National Police was alerted and intercepted the suspect at Gran Canaria Airport. The woman was taken to the police station in Maspalomas for processing, and the judicial authorities were informed.
The police emphasized that they will prosecute any attempt to avoid payment for services in the tourism sector, thus protecting businesses in the Canary Islands.
