Jessica Bowie, a 35-year-old woman, has been accused by federal authorities of providing support to a terrorist organization after allegedly attempting to plan an ISIS-inspired attack on the Congress building in Albany, New York.
According to a criminal complaint filed in the United States District Court for the Northern District of New York, Bowie allegedly told a confidential source that she supports ISIS and requested help to learn how to make explosives.
She is set to appear in court, facing a single charge: attempting to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization. Bowie converted to Islam five years ago and created several social media accounts to express her support for terrorism.
Between July 16 and August 17, she communicated with a confidential FBI source, expressing her desire to carry out an attack on the state Capitol building, wanting to harm "the enemies of the Lord."
Bowie planned to escape after the attack and suggested that she could return to carry out other attacks. Authorities will hold a press conference to discuss details about this case.
