Aleksandar Vucic, the President of Serbia, stated that he will not participate in the EU-Western Balkans summit in Brussels, citing the need to protect the interests of his country. Vucic emphasized that, for the first time in 13-14 years, Serbia will not be represented at an intergovernmental conference, asserting that the decision is entirely his. He mentioned that he recently discussed with European leaders, including Ursula von der Leyen and Emmanuel Macron, appreciating the respect shown towards Serbia.

The Serbian president emphasized that Serbia will continue to follow its path towards the European Union, but left open the possibility for a new leader to decide the political future of the country after his term. The summit in Brussels will address topics such as strategic partnership, integration, migration, and combating organized crime.
