On Saturday, January 24, thousands of people took to the streets in Tirana to protest against the government of socialist Prime Minister Edi Rama. The demonstration, organized by the Democratic Party, escalated into violence, with at least 25 arrests and 11 police officers injured, requiring medical assistance due to attacks with Molotov cocktails and blunt objects.

The protest started peacefully but turned into clashes with law enforcement as night fell, when protesters began throwing stones and incendiary objects. The police responded with tear gas to disperse the crowd. Organizers accused the government of corruption and poor economic management, demanding the resignation of Rama and his cabinet.
