The Vietnamese government has given the green light for the launch of the Starlink service, owned by SpaceX, for providing satellite internet, according to a statement from the Ministry of Science and Technology. The license allows the company to offer both fixed and mobile internet services, and includes authorization for the use of frequencies and radio equipment.
This approval comes ahead of the visit of Vietnamese leader To Lam to the United States, where he will participate in President Donald Trump's 'Council for Peace' initiative.
Although last year Vietnam allowed SpaceX to operate in a testing regime, the actual launch date of the Starlink service remains unclear.
