The Starlink satellite internet connection has improved in Ukraine, but SpaceX is maintaining restrictions on using the service while in motion, according to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense. The speed is limited to approximately 160 kilometers per hour, and on Wednesday the figures were at times even lower.
Authorities in Kyiv said they remain in contact with SpaceX to resolve the problems. Starlink is used, among other things, for communications by the Ukrainian army on the battlefield, so any disruptions could affect operations.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy asked Elon Musk, in an interview with journalist Piers Morgan, to fully restore the service. The Ukrainian leader said that people could die if the attacks continue and Starlink does not work, and called the suspension or limitation of the network “a big mistake”.
Zelenskyy said he hopes the situation is caused by a technical issue and stressed that Ukraine still relies on its partnership with the United States. the statements were made after the Ukrainian army encountered difficulties on the ground.
