The American aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford, the largest in the world, has been declared combat-ready again after the fire that occurred on board on March 12, in the Red Sea, during Operation Epic Fury, conducted against Iran.
The U.S. Sixth Fleet announced that the ship recently departed from the port of Split, Croatia, and is ready to fulfill all mission tasks. The fire broke out in the ship's laundry area, and the crew's swift response was praised by Admiral Daryl Caudle, the head of U.S. naval operations, who emphasized that air missions were resumed just two days after the incident.
After the devastating fire, the USS Gerald R. Ford was temporarily withdrawn from operations against Iran and sent to Greece for repairs, which were carried out at the U.S. military base in Souda Bay, on the island of Crete. After the work was completed, the aircraft carrier made a five-day stop in Croatia for crew rest.
