In an operation in the Aleppo area, the US military announced the killing of Islamic State leader Dhia Zawbaa Mossleh al-Hardani and a son, both considered a threat to the US and the anti-jihadist coalition. The move is part of ongoing US efforts to prevent a revival of the group, which controlled large territories in Syria and Iraq by 2019.
