The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, announced on Saturday, on platform X, that Ukraine is joining for the first time the European Union's Civil Protection Mechanism as a provider of assistance.

A team of 70 Ukrainian firefighters has departed for France to support efforts in combating wildfires. This action underscores Ukraine's commitment to contributing to the protection of lives across Europe, even in the context of the aggressive war waged by Russia. Ursula von der Leyen highlighted European solidarity, stating that Ukraine demonstrates daily that it has a place in the European Union. This collaboration marks a historic moment for Ukraine and its relations with the EU.
