European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen had a positive telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump on tariffs. Although negotiations for a trade deal continue, Trump is threatening a 50% surtax on European goods. The European Commission, represented by commissioner Maros Sefcovic, is working to reach an agreement in principle, but has avoided commenting on a possible postponement of Trump's proposed deadline.
