At the World Economic Forum in Davos, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, had a meeting with a bipartisan delegation from the U.S. Congress, where she emphasized the importance of respecting the sovereignty of Greenland and the Kingdom of Denmark. She highlighted that respecting sovereignty is essential for the transatlantic relationship, in the context of President Donald Trump's threats to impose tariffs on European allies if an agreement is not reached regarding the U.S. takeover of Greenland. Von der Leyen reaffirmed the European Union's commitment to closely collaborate with the United States and Denmark to promote common interests in security.
