Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the European Commission, condemned the massive attack by Russia on Kyiv, which took place on the night from Sunday to Monday, when over 400 drones and missiles targeted the Ukrainian capital.

In a message published on platform X, she emphasized that Ukraine urgently needs more air defense capabilities and announced that this topic will be discussed at the NATO summit in Ankara. Von der Leyen also mentioned that last week the first tranche of 4 billion euros was granted from a total loan of 90 billion euros, aimed at strengthening Ukraine's defense with advanced technology. The attack occurred a day before the opening of the NATO summit, where the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, will meet with his American counterpart, Donald Trump, to discuss solutions for ending the war. Following the attack, 14 people died and another ten were injured, and the mayor of Kyiv declared a day of mourning for the victims.
