In a statement on the X network, the UN High Commissioner condemned Israel for the attack targeting the tent in which five Al Jazeera employees were staying, stressing that it is a serious violation of international law. The attack led to the death of Anas al-Sharif, a well-known journalist, along with four other colleagues. The UN reiterated the need to protect journalists and called for unhindered access to Gaza, noting that since October 7, 2023, 242 Palestinian journalists have been killed. The organization 'Reporters Without Borders' denounced the assassination of al-Sharif, considered an important voice for Palestinians.
