Latvia reports that Russia's jamming technologies could have redirected Ukrainian drones over its territory.

On May 7 and 8, two Ukrainian drones crashed near an oil facility in Rēzekne, Latvia, raising questions about the causes of the incidents. Modris Kairišs, head of the Autonomous Systems Competence Center in Latvia, explained that the drones might be using early forms of artificial intelligence, which could lead them to mistakenly identify targets similar to those in Russia. Latvian officials have not yet confirmed the exact reasons for the crash. It is believed that Russian electronic warfare systems could be responsible, jamming GPS signals and causing deviations in the drones' trajectories.

The spokesperson for the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs accused Russia of deliberately redirecting Ukrainian drones towards the Baltic states, while previous incidents involving Ukrainian drones in other European regions have raised security and propaganda concerns.
