A Ukrainian delegation, led by Rustem Umerov, Kiril Budanov, and David Arakhamia, will arrive in Miami on Saturday to discuss with close associates of Donald Trump. The purpose of the meeting is to reduce tensions between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Trump, ahead of the World Economic Forum in Davos. Ukraine insists on the simultaneous acceptance of two agreements: security guarantees to prevent Russian aggression and an $800 billion reconstruction plan.
Zelensky stated that he hopes these documents will be signed in Davos, but American officials seem more hesitant. Trump suggested that Zelensky is the obstacle to peace, while Ukrainian officials emphasize that without security, there can be no agreement. Zelensky mentioned that Ukraine has completed the necessary documents but acknowledged that there are differences of opinion regarding negotiations with the U.S. The Ukrainian ambassador to the U.S. confirmed that the purpose of the visit is to refine agreements with American partners.
