Negotiations between the Ukrainian delegation and U.S. President Donald Trump’s special envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, have been suspended in Florida, with no second day of talks scheduled, according to Radio Liberty. The meetings, planned for October 9 and 10, aimed to identify a solution to end the war launched by Russia.
The discussions reportedly stopped after Donald Trump announced an agreement with the Kremlin on supplying Russian diesel fuel to the American and global markets. According to Axios, the deal was concluded after Kyiv refused to halt attacks on Russian refineries.
Meanwhile, Russia launched new attacks on Ukrainian cities. President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that at least 12 people were killed and another 14 injured in Zaporizhzhia.
Witkoff had previously described the talks as constructive. The agenda included security guarantees for Ukraine, territorial proposals, energy resilience, grain exports, postwar reconstruction, and future relations with the EU and NATO. The U.S. envoys could travel to Moscow and Kyiv next week for further consultations.
