Russian attacks have destroyed 60% of Ukraine's natural gas storage capacity, forcing the state to purchase 4.4 billion cubic meters of external gas to cope with the winter. President Zelensky has requested international support for repairing energy infrastructure, and gas imports are expected to increase by 30%. The European Commission and other financial institutions are considering additional assistance for the Ukrainian energy sector. Russia continues to target energy infrastructure to undermine the morale of the population.
