The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reacted vehemently on Saturday, condemning what it called "ultimatums and blackmail" from Hungary and Slovakia. The two countries warned that they would suspend electricity supplies to Ukraine if it did not resume the transit of Russian oil, which has been blocked since January due to a drone attack on infrastructure. Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico announced that he would stop emergency electricity supply within two days, and Viktor Orban from Hungary issued a similar threat. This dispute highlights the tensions between Ukraine and the two neighboring states, which have close ties to Moscow and defy the pro-Ukrainian European consensus. Ukraine has proposed alternative routes for oil delivery to Europe, in the context of increasingly relying on electricity from Hungary and Slovakia, following Russian attacks on its energy network.
