Ukraine attacked the refinery in Omsk on Monday, the largest in Russia, located about 2500 km from the border, according to information provided by the Ukrainian general staff.

The attack caused a fire, and the extent of the damage is currently being assessed, the Ukrainian army announced in a statement on Telegram. The refinery, operated by Gazpromneft, is located in western Siberia, near the border with Kazakhstan, and is among the most distant targets attacked by Ukraine so far.

The governor of the Omsk region, Vitali Hobzenko, confirmed on Telegram that several Ukrainian drones reached the industrial area in northern Omsk, without providing details about the consequences of the attack. He mentioned that emergency services are working to extinguish the effects of the fire.
