On Friday, Ukraine accused the Russian army of drone attacks on two cargo ships in the Black Sea, an incident that resulted in the death of a Syrian sailor and the injury of another. Deputy Prime Minister Oleksii Kouleba stated that the ship on which the deceased sailor was located was carrying soybeans and was sailing under the Comoros flag, near the port of Odesa. The other ship, which was heading to the port of Chernomorsk to load grain, was sailing under the Saint Kitts and Nevis flag. Kouleba condemned the attack as a "horrific war crime," accusing Russia of deliberately targeting civilian objects and food supply chains. In recent weeks, attacks in the Black Sea have intensified, with Ukraine targeting Russian oil tankers and Russia attacking energy and maritime infrastructure in Odesa.
