Start-up Meatly has received approval from regulators to produce chicken meat from lab-grown cells, initially for pets. The company plans to start production of commercial samples and then work to reduce costs and scale up production to industrial scale. The lab-grown meat industry has faced difficulties in obtaining investment and approvals for human consumption in Europe.
