The Israeli advisor on national security issues, Tzachi Hanegbi, announced on Tuesday that he was dismissed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who intends to appoint a new head of the National Security Council. Hanegbi stated that his term ends on the same day.
His dismissal comes after weeks of tensions related to Israel's strategy in the War in Gaza, where Hanegbi publicly criticized certain actions of Netanyahu, including the military control over the city of Gaza and the attacks that led to the assassination of Hamas leaders in Qatar. This change reflects the differences of opinion within the Israeli leadership regarding the approach to the conflict.
