Typhoon season began in Japan with Typhoon Lingling, which hit Kyushu, bringing wind gusts of up to 150 km/h and heavy rain. In the aftermath, the city of Kagoshima experienced severe flooding, with streets and homes inundated. Although the typhoon quickly became a tropical storm, the damage was significant and the authorities temporarily suspended Shinkansen trains. Weather forecasters warned residents to be vigilant for landslides and flooding.
