The Turkish Ministry of Defense announced the downing of an uncontrolled drone approaching Turkish airspace from the Black Sea. Turkish F-16 aircraft and those of NATO were activated to ensure air security.

The drone was shot down in a safe area, but the ministry did not provide details about its type or origin. This is the first incident of this kind reported by Turkey since the beginning of the war in Ukraine. The incident occurs in the context of escalating conflict in the Black Sea, following Russian attacks on Ukrainian ports, which have affected Turkish cargo ships.
