The White House spokesperson, Karoline Leavitt, confirmed that discussions will take place with the Iranian delegation and expressed hope for a "fruitful conversation" that will lead to an agreement. The Trump administration recently noted "some progress" from Iran, without providing further details.

Additionally, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi is expected in Islamabad to discuss proposals for resuming peace negotiations. Vice President JD Vance, who led an unsuccessful first round of discussions, is prepared to travel to Pakistan again if the negotiations prove promising. Trump recently extended a two-week ceasefire with Iran to allow discussions to continue.
