In an interview with Fox News, Donald Trump said Xi Jinping had told him that Beijing would not attack Taiwan during his time in the White House. Trump compared the situation to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, noting that Xi has been patient. The Chinese embassy also emphasized the importance of adhering to the one-China principle and handling bilateral relations with the US with caution amid tensions over Taiwan.
