The American administration led by Donald Trump plans to redirect 2 billion dollars to support MAGA movements in the European Union and other regions, according to a report by the Financial Times.
This initiative is part of a review of U.S. priorities regarding foreign aid, focusing on promoting freedom of expression and national sovereignty.
The proposed grants include 2 million dollars to combat what the administration considers to be censorship imposed by EU regulations, such as the Digital Services Act (DSA) and the Digital Markets Act (DMA). The funds are expected to support organizations like Free Speech Union International from the UK, as well as initiatives from Eastern Europe, Brazil, and South Africa.
The State Department mentioned that these funding proposals are under analysis and have not yet been approved.
