American President Donald Trump announced on Monday the launch of "Trump Accounts", a program aimed at newborns in the U.S., which will provide an initial contribution of $1,000 in over 500,000 accounts.
This program aims to encourage long-term investments and financial education for children born between 2025 and 2028. Trump emphasized the importance of cooperation between the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq, highlighting that this has not been achieved by politicians. While supporters of the program believe it will help build wealth, critics warn that low-income families may struggle to contribute further.
The accounts will be automatically managed through an indexed fund, and account holders will have control over the funds at age 18. Companies like Visa, Dell, and Comcast have announced their support for this program, and Senator Ted Cruz stated that "Trump Accounts" will turn children into capitalists.
