The administration of President Donald Trump is analyzing the possibility of ceding a small portion of Yosemite National Park in California to developer Kingsbarn Realty Capital. The company's attorney, Lanny Davis, confirmed discussions with the National Park Service for the construction of an access road to a 34-acre private land, in exchange for another piece of land.
This proposal has generated outrage among environmentalists and Democrats, who believe that the measures of the Republican administration affect the protection of public lands. The Department of the Interior stated that no final decision has been made, but legal procedures for transparency will follow.
Mark Rose, the program coordinator for the Sierra Nevada area, and Senator Adam Schiff condemned the initiative, emphasizing the importance of protecting the park, which is an internationally recognized natural wonder. Yosemite has been protected by law since 1864 and attracts millions of visitors annually.
